Unity XT 680F/680 Unified Storage
The Unity XT 680F/680 is a 2U unified storage array from the Dell Unity XT family, available as an all-flash model (680F) and a hybrid flash model (680). It pairs dual-active storage processors and two dual-socket Intel CPUs (48 cores per array, 2.1 GHz) with 384 GB of system memory and cache per array, scales to 1,000 drives and 8.0 PB of raw capacity, and reaches up to 2.36M IOPS on the all-flash configuration.
Unity XT 680F/680 Unified Storage Overview
The Unity XT 680F/680 is a unified storage array from the Dell Unity XT family. The pair covers both ends of the flash spectrum: the all-flash 680F model is built for latency-sensitive block and file workloads, while the hybrid 680 model mixes SSDs with 10K and 7.2K NL-SAS drives for workloads that do not need the speed and low latency of an NVMe architecture. Both are built on the same platform: dual-active storage processors with two dual-socket Intel CPUs (48 cores per array, 2.1 GHz), 384 GB of system memory and cache per array, and a 2U disk processor enclosure holding twenty-five 2.5-inch drives with full 12 Gb SAS back-end connectivity.
Unity XT delivers up to twice the IOPS of the previous Dell Unity models and supports up to 50% more drives, and every array includes a rich set of all-inclusive enterprise software for block, file and VMware vVols. The Unity XT 680F/680 scales to 1,000 drives and 8.0 PB of raw capacity, and reaches up to 2.36M IOPS on all-flash configurations. It targets enterprise unified workloads: virtualisation, databases, VDI, consolidation and cloud.
